Q & A with Scott Wolf of Inside USC and LA Daily News

WEDNESDAY
Interesting reply from Scott Wolf in his daily blog which I want to share with you...

Question from reader on insidesocal.com:
Mr. Wolf, what offseason changes to the coaching staff do you forsee considering that the defense is the weak link of the team (weird considering that the defense was viewed stronger in the summer)? BTW do you view the lack of defense as a result of personnel or coaching? Thank you in advance.

Answer from Scott Wolf:
I think it is primarily a personnel issue. The defense had some shocking performances last season too. But this year is worse and unfortunately, it is the personnel (bad recruiting, installation of Brennan Carroll as recruiting coordinator). But at the same time, I don't think it is excusable for USC to be ranked 100th in total defense no matter what the recruiting deficiencies. So I hold the coaches responsible too.

You remember Brennan, right? Pete's son. Believe he was the tight ends coach. And apparently the recruiting coordinator.

I will never forget a ten-minute video, posted on YouTube-since pulled by the university-of him running a walk-on try-out session. The guy has an SC visor on his head, worn backwards.

For every second of the ten-minute duration he is screaming at the top of his lungs, cursing at these poor Trojan hopefuls, cursing over and over and over, exclaiming this is the chance of their lifetimes.

It was a disgrace.
Just embarrassing. And this is why the athletic department pulled the video off the Internet.
