Interesting Movement in the Betting Line: Pac-10 Edition

USC at Minnesota
Gophers opened as 14.5-point dogs. That number is now 11.5.

Richard Gardner, the bookmaker at Bodog for the past eight years says: "This is one of the ones where it is interesting. Most places opened at 14.5 but we opened ourselves at 13.5, because we know our customers love playing USC. We have only moved to 13 and are actually two points off of where other books are because we have so many USC-loving fans, they'll bet no matter what the number. If the markets drop lower, we may drop another point. We feel comfortable we will get a lot of bets on USC, so we can give away a little value. This is already our second-biggest decision for Saturday."

Nebraska at Washington

Nebraska opened as 3.5-point favorites over Washington, then moved to 4, now back down to 3.5.

Richard Gardner: "We opened it 3.5 and then got a flood of money on Nebraska and moved to 4. Then we started seeing the sharper money coming back and we saw across other books that the number moved back down to 3. We decided to stay on the other side of that key number at 3.5 because we generally see more Pac-10 money, but it is one of those games where sharp and retail money is flooding in on Nebraska and we don't really want to move because you don't want to be a full point off of what the rest of the market is doing. So we'll monitor it. But this is our biggest decision of the day so far."
